Our New Best Friend

Some of my friends call it the "witching hour", and if you have small children and/or babies you probably know exactly what I'm referring to... that stressful, cranky time before and possibly throughout dinnertime. In my house, with my 3 & 4 year old boys, I can hesitantly refer to it as the "All-You-Can-Eat-Chaos Buffet & Show". Admission is free, but I'd have to actually pay you to stay, watch, and listen to it.

But that's all about to change, because the new swingset has arrived! (You can see pictures of the sad old swingset in a recent older post.)

Our new best friend is large and in charge. It's got two "big boy swings" (opposed to "baby swings"), there's a slippery dip (uh, that's Australian for "slide"), and a steering wheel. And I am optimistic and hopeful that the fantastic lookout window on this bad boy, won't cause my neighbors to call the city council as my children peer into their yards with the yellow plastic telescope conveniently mounted inside.

I'm feeling pretty confident that the boys new little paradise is going to make a huge difference in the quality of our late afternoon time. Law of attraction, law of attraction. My kids will behave, my 3 year old won't show my 4 year old who's boss, and I'll make everyone a nice dinner. Law of attraction. Think it, know it, it will happen-- right?

Hi Florida girl,

Your blog caught my eye since I am a Utah girl in Sydney. We just moved here in January. It has been challenging so far, more than I expected!

How long will you guys be here? What brought you here? Looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully finding some one to relate to!

Does this law of attraction really work? I have been trying it for a year. It worked once.

I always felt that if you think something is going to happen or you think about the way things are going to be, they happen. And when they came out with the secret, I was like-- wow, they have a name for it.

I think the energy of the positive thinking is huge. As is the power of negative thoughts.
Like I would say that on any given day, based on my attitude, good or bad things happen.

It's no wonder I've made so few friends here, and complain about everything. I know I've got to turn that frown upside down, put on my big girl pants, and change my attitude... but I'm not sure if I'm ready yet.
