Backhanded Compliments or Real Appreciation of the U.S.?

The following is an article in which, the apparently wide spread sentiment by Australians that it's difficult to admit you like America and "obnoxious Americans", meets the reality of, the U.S has amazing places to see and nice, friendly people.

I found the comment section after the article interesting too, especially the posts regarding how shocking it is when Australians find out we don't all support George Bush.

I swear, I have never been so freaking patriotic, but I guess that's what happens when you move to a place where you feel your homeland is constantly bashed. It's crazy.

You do realise not all Australians hate Americans right? especially the younger generation!
I cant wait till i can actually get over to America to meet American people and eat American food and visit American places and i am Australian!

Well if I'm back in the U.S. when you go there we'll have to hook up and I'll take you out!
If you read the comments under the article that I had a link to, it's so weird how 50/50 it is on people loving or hating America/ns.
I totally didn't realize it could be a generational thing!

hey i can admit it, i like Americans. I've never been to America but I've seen enough television to want to go! but dang it, it's zed, not zee! lol
